This is our third visit to Cascade Meadows. We're winding up our summer in Central Oregon because we have family here and it's a beautiful place to camp. On this visit here, I spent most days driving up to Redmond to help my sister install new flooring in her home. Also, I've been walking five miles every morning, and here was no exception. However, to start early enough at my sister's, most of my walks were in the dark and the temperatures (in August) were in the low forties. This presented an additional problem, it was too dark to see. So, each morning I'd exit the park and head up the highway to Paulina Lake so that I could follow the white line on the road which was visible in the dark. Two and a half miles up the road and then turn around. Once my Sister's floor was finished I moved my walks to a little later time and could explore the dirt roads heading off into the woods. It was still fairly cold and a couple of times I got caught in the rain. That did lead to some beautiful sunrises and even rainbows.
