Albany / Corvallis KOA, Albany, Oregon
The Albany / Corvallis KOA campground has it good and bad points. Our month there was ok. The campground itself was nice enough with lots of pull-thru sites. It is set up so that all the 50A full hookup sites are located on the north end of the grounds and the non-septic and tent sites are on the south end of the grounds. It works, I guess, but it did put all the full hook-up sites next to a very noisy highway also, away from the very poor wireless internet. (I couldn't even begin to get the cable to work) The other thing about KOA is that if you're camping by the week or month, you don't get the bonus points to earn discounts. I know, that the longer stay discount is more than the bonus discount, but it does take away the incentive for us people who stay by the week or month to choose KOA. We also found that the preferred sites were saved for the people paying the nightly rate. So if you stay by the week, be prepared to be in the middle of pretty much a parking lot with grass strips that you are asked to keep watered but never get mowed. (at least not during the month I was there)
Comments from other users were things like the really high rates to rent cabins. If you're coming to Corvallis to stay for a game weekend and think that it's cheaper to camp than to get a hotel, it isn't. The cost of the cabins was comparable to a one or two-star hotel and you have no bathroom and have to bring your own bedding. The other comment that I heard most often, was the lack of friendliness of the staff.
On the plus side: The pool was nice, and there was lots of room for pets to run outside the campground but on the property, you could buy a dixie cup of vanilla ice cream for sixty cents! (That tells you my priorities) I would come back again, but probably not for an extended stay.
