Silver Sage RV Park, Reno, Nevada

Silver Sage Sunrise Whale     We were looking for a good place to stay so that we could visit our daughter up on Lake Tahoe without driving the coach up to the lake at 6500 ft.  So we found this little park in Midtown right across from the Peppermill Casino.  After we got set up in the park we did walk across to the Casino and Jackie won $400.  Then we headed up to Truckee to meet my daughter for dinner.  On our second day, I walked up Virginia Street to Reno's downtown area.  I really enjoyed the walk and took in the early morning sites of the city.  After my walk and breakfast, we headed south to Carson City, in the car, then up 50 to the lake.  We checked out the Trails Collection park in South Tahoe and then continued clockwise around the lake, stopping in Tahoe City to have lunch overlooking the marina.  After lunch, we went to Incline village to visit with my daughter for a while, then continued our way around the lake and back to the park.  The next morning before we left, I got in another five-mile walk up Virginia Street as we didn't have far to travel to our next campground in Hawthorne.  It wasn't far until I missed my turn and had to continue east on I-80 until I hit highway 95 adding forty-two miles to my once short trip.  At a dollar a mile, I wasn't altogether happy with myself.

As for the park, it wasn't much more than a parking lot with full hookups.  There were people living there full time which really brought the feel of the park down, which was too bad.  We felt like we couldn't leave anything out and kept our bikes on the car for our excursions to avoid leaving them at the campground.  I can't say whether or not there was any crime there as the park was secured with big electric gates on both ends, but it just didn't feel right.  As it turned out the location was great, the staff at the park were more than friendly and the free wifi was good enough that I didn't need to set up my Starlink.
